16th Meeting of the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities

On 1-3 April 2014 in Skopje, representatives of the Inspector General for the Protection of Personal Data took part in the 16th Meeting of the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities (CEEDPA). This year's event was hosted by the data protection authority of the Republic of Macedonia. Among the participants of the meeting were representatives of 14 data protection authorities from the following countries: Albania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Montenegro, Macedonia, Hungary, Serbia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, and representatives of the EU Council.

The meeting adopted a Declaration on the new member of the Group of the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities, by which a data protection authority from Georgia was admitted as a member of the Group, and a Declaration on mutual assistance and enhanced cooperation. The second declaration aimed to express the common need for enhanced cooperation and to draw attention to the current state of work on the revision of the EU data protection legal framework.

It was also decided that the 17th CEEDPA meeting will be held in 2015 in Albania, while the 18th will be organised in 2016 in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
